New slow release mixture of ( <i>E</i> )???farnesene with methyl salicylate to enhance aphid biocontrol efficacy in wheat ecosystem

Semiochemical use is a promising way to reduce damage from pests by improving natural control in agro-ecosystems. The aphid alarm pheromone (E)-?-farnesene (E?F) and herbivore-induced methyl salicylate (MeSA) are two volatile cues induce changes behavior with functional significance. Because of limitations related the volatility oxidization E?F MeSA under conditions, slow-release antioxidant techniques should be developed optimized before application. Here, alginate bead mixed was first designed manufactured. We hypothesized that mixture these semiochemicals could effective controlling Sitobion miscanthi wheat crops. Both beads were released stably continuously for at least 15 days laboratory, whereas paraffin oil pure only 2 7 days, respectively. In 2018 field experiments, alone or association significantly decreased abundance alate apterous aphids.
